Primary War Tactic
Sieges: Medieval Sieges were by far the most effective strategy in the times. A siege would involve an army surrounding a fortified location and setting up towers and trebuchets around the entire structure preparing to invade, although the goal was not to invade the structure. The goal was to choke out the people inside by not allowing them to escape or import supplies until they surrender. In fact, sieges rarely led to an invasion. The longest siege recorded lasted around 6 months.

Mythical Weapon
Excalibur: The myth is identified with a single hero and should not be allowed to fall into the hands of an enemy owing to its inherent power. In the case of Excalibur, when Arthur is dying of his wounds following his battle with Mordred, it must be returned to its source, the Lady of the Lake, rather than being entrusted to whichever knight - no matter how noble - might succeed Arthur as king.
The more accurate version is King Arthur was able to remove the "Sword in Stone" for he was the chosen one. During his first battle with the weapon his blade broke, So he took it back to the lake and the lady of the lake unlocked it's powers and turned it into the legendary blade Excalibur. When Arthur dies the sword was thrown back to the lady of the lake. In some versions Arthur lends Excalibur to Sir Gawain and Lancelot in some battles but ultimately he does have the sword in his final battle. |
